Frenchman Gabriel Voisin was a visionary and pioneer in the development and construction of aircraft and luxury automobiles, hence the Avions Voisin brand name. Since the factory was founded in 1919, driving comfort and ease of use have been central to the design of his cars.
Voisin proved to be a skilled designer; his creative and innovative ideas did not come out of thin air. Together with world-renowned Swiss architect Le Corbusier, he regularly exchanged views on details such as interior upholstery and the use of materials. This is reflected in many of his designs. Voisin paid a great deal of attention to noise reduction. The use of silky smooth sliding motors from the American brand Knight, with a front-mounted electric starter, is typical of the brand.
Avions Voisin C23 chassis number 47318 from 1932 is unique for two reasons. First, it is the only Voisin with a two-door body by Swiss bodybuilder Graber. The C23 was in such good condition when it was found in 2014 that Noek Stevens from Classic Skills noted that “it is prohibited” to restore this car.
